My name is Chum ( Ch Payasa Under the Radar by K & H CGC TD NAJ RN) I am the youngest Havanese at Meme Zee's. I have a championship for handsomeness (that is what the Ch in front of my name means). I am also known as a truly "balanced dog." This means, I have earned one or more titles to put at the end of my name just as I have the CH title at the beginning. The CGC stands for Canine Good Citizen. I had to take a test to prove that I could demonstrate what good manners I have when I am with other people and animals. The TD means I am now considered to be a Therapy dog and can help people who are sick or children who need assistance in reading. I have helped helped first grade kids with their reading skills at our city school. The NAJ means a title in Novice Agility Jumpers as I demonstrated my ability to qualify at the beginning level in jumpers agility. The courses I had to run had all kinds of jumps and tunnels that had to be run in a certain way in and in a specific time. I met the time requriemtents to qualify three different times in order to get the NAJ title. I was pleased. I also qualified three times doing a rally course to earn my RN title. Rally is more like obedience but its fun because Meme can talk to me all the time. I love my Meme. I will probably always obedience classes of some sort and one day actually compete. But I'm not ready yet. Or rather, Meme is not ready yet. I miss agility but need a handler as Meme can't run fast enough to keep up with me. I didn't like doing the teeter totter but Loo, my roommate, actually jumps on the on the end of the teeter like it was a diving board. The weave poles are also kind of hard and a little stupid but I can do them. I like going to obedience classes too. Well, except when the big dogs heel faster than I do and try to run us off the mat. It is also a bit stuffy in that there is no opportunity to really kick back and demonstrate my stunning personality. When I'm not going to school, I race around the yard with my housemates, Faso, Yoo Hoo and Lahtee. We especially like the large pool cover which is just like a giant trampoline. Faso did tell me he had an unfortunate experience when he raced out the back door last spring and leaped into the air to jump on the pool cover and the discovered the cover had been replaced with 15 feet of water. Very cold water in fact. He said he learned to swim that day and hasn't been in the pool since. I guess I better go a little slower until my swimming skills are well proofed. Although I did practice a little when I fell in the fish pond. It was pretty cold and I can't say I liked it very much. I love to take morning walks with everyone. We all have winter coats, spring sweaters and rain coats if needed. It takes a long time to get everyone dressed and ready to go in the morning. My best house buddy is Foster, a cat who was just a baby when he came to live with us. I really like him and we play and take naps together. You can view more pictures of me by clicking on my nose.
